http://www.633main.com/dev8.htm Quit Worrying Series (Part I) - Stevie Wonder & Apostle Paul Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking Him with a thankful heart. (Phil. 4:6) Even though most of us profess to be Christians, all we do is worry, even though the Bible clearly speaks against worrying. We worry about our jobs, grades, and children. We are natural worry warts! Here are some criteria to let you know if you are a worry wart: -you let little things bother you (ie. someone squezzed the tooth paste in the middle vs. from the bottom up) -you let 'imagination' terrorize you (ie. you daydream about what would happen if the car behind you -rear ended you and the series of events that may follow) -you agonize over things you can't do anything about -you don't trust people, and impute ulterior motives to others -you take comments and criticisms personally -you won't give yourself wholeheartedly to anyone -you cherish health problems After reading this list its no wonder that Stevie Wonder and Apostle Paul have written on this topic. This may be the first time someone has put them in the same sentence, but they have more in common than you think. Check this out: Dont You Worry Bout a Thing (Stevie Wonder, 1974) Everybody's got a thing But some don't know how to handle it Always reachin' out in vain Accepting the things not worth having but Don't you worry 'bout a thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, Cause I'll be standing on the side When you check it out Phillipians 4:6-7 (TEV) Apostle Paul, 61AD 6 Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking Him with a thankful heart. 7 And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and mind safe in union with Christ Jesus. Now I am not sure if Stevie Wonder intentionally took a page out of Paul's book, but he's on to something crucial for coping with this world. The Bible clearly says "don't worry about anything," but to simply go to God with prayers of thanksgiving, because our situations could be ten times worse! You make think you have it bad, but trust me, someone, somewhere has it it worse. And no one endured what Christ our saviour went through to save us! So today, instead of worrying, take a page out of Paul and Stevie Wonder's book, and simply "Don't worry bout a thing" and thank God for what do you have... -Eric Lusain, Cincinnati, OH
