The Mad Hatter - Part 2

http://www.633main.com/dev241.htm Hey Eric. My name is Nicolas and I'm from Paducah, Kentucky. I've been listening to your podcast for a good while and it has greatly help me with my bible studies and quiet time and things like that. Recently, the recent Mad Hatter raised some questions for me. I began to think why I worship on Sunday and that kind of thing. Now, I respect your beliefs about the Holy Day we worship, (and you may be right) but I want to say why I worship on the first day of the week. One thing, if we are living a life of worship, I don't think the specific day of corporate worship should be debated. We are supposed to keep our eyes on God EVERY DAY. Don't get me wrong, worshiping as a church is super-important. But the day really shouldn't be all that big of a deal. Secondly, God wrote the rule for the Jewish people so that they might experience a group worship. God was trying to emphisize that point. God gave the day Saturday to them so they all might be on the same page. Now of all the Ten Commandments, this one is legalistic. It asks a specific day. After Jesus died on the cross, most of the legalistic procedures were done away with. (Ex: Sacrifices and how to do them and how to punish sinners.) As long as we have a day of corporate worship, I think we please God. Now, I respect your beliefs and you made some good points. However I feel God leads me to worship on Sundays. I hope you respect my beliefs. But as long as Jesus is the only way, truth, and life, I know God hears both of our praises to him. (No matter what day it's on!) Thanks for the podcast, Nicolas Nicolas- Thanks for your response it means a great deal to me. And many points you raised I also agree with. But first I want to throw religion out of the door. And you and I deal with only what is Biblical or not. There is nothing to debate upon if we do this, because Sunday worship as the Sabbath is not Biblical. Now I agree that we should keep our eyes upon God everyday. And I agree that the Sabbath is legalistic, but only because we (Man) made it legalistic. I am in no way trying to judge you or anyone who keeps Sunday as the Sabbath. I merely ask why because its not found in the old or new testament. And if you base your faith upon the Bible, then I am confused. In regards to items that Jesus did away with on the cross, we need to be careful that the entire scripture is cited to gain the correct context. Jesus said in Matt. 5:17, "17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." And in regards to what laws were abolished on the cross you are absolutely correct, ceremonial laws were abolished, but it clearly says the ceremonial laws contained in the ordinances which does not include any of the Ten Commandments. The scriptures says, "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;" Eph. 2:15 But you still did not tell me why you worship on Sunday. Email me if you really want to know the significance of Sunday worship and how it came about. But I had to search history documents, because it is no where in the Bible. But Nicolas, you're right about God hearing both our praises. I don't want to debate, I only want to spread the Love of Jesus Christ. I love this guy so much. And I don't say guy in disrespect, I say that way because He is real to me. He's the best thing that has happened to me. Please email whenever you like, Id love to continue chatting with you, and I hope you don't mind me including your email in my podcast. May God richly bless you! -Eric Lusain, Cincinnati, OH
